The Zambezi Valley Biodiversity Project, a collaborative effort between the UNDP, GEF, and local communities, introduced a groundbreaking solution: solar-powered piped water schemes and fenced community gardens across Wards 7, 8, and 9.

Reliable Water, Flourishing Crops: Solar-powered pumps provide a constant source of water, revitalizing agricultural practices. This not only ensures reliable crop irrigation but also reduces the need for villagers to venture into wildlife areas for water, minimizing encounters with potentially dangerous animals. Constance Masona, a widow and grandmother, exemplifies the project's impact. "With the garden," she shares, "our crops are flourishing, and we have enough water. Now, I can care for my grandchildren through farming, providing for their education, food, and clothing. It's a true blessing."
Strengthening the Community Fabric: The project extends its positive influence beyond individual households, fostering a stronger community spirit.
